Peter Foldy loves Christmas music.
Born behind the Iron Curtain in Budapest, Hungary where Christmas wasn’t celebrated in any meaningful way, Peter was quickly charmed by the classic Christmas songs after he and his family emigrated to Sydney, Australia and later to Toronto, Canada.
“There is a something so soothing about tunes like “White Christmas,” “Chestnuts Roasting by an Open Fire (The Christmas Song)” and “Please Come Home for Christmas” by the Eagles.
“Three of my all-time favorites” he tells us.
After landing a record contract in Canada where he found success with his nostalgic summer hit, “Bondi Junction,” he was asked by the label to record “Christmas Eve With You,” a tune written by Gene Lees, a songwriter best known for having penned, “Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars” for Frank Sinatra.
That recording inspired Peter to start writing his own Christmas songs and periodically releasing them on various labels.
His most recent Christmas offering is THIS CHRISTMAS.
“It’s my most current sounding Christmas song to date” he says, “and we had a lot of fun recording it.”

Christmas music is perennial, so it’s appropriate at the end of every year – and it makes people feel good, which is something Peter loves to do.
But it’s not only Christmas music that inspires him.
A successful writer and director of feature films (“it’s my day job” says Peter) he is currently writing a Christmas movie to be shot in 2022.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun, and we hope to sign a well-known musical artist for one of the leading roles.”
So is he going to use some of his own Christmas songs in the movie?
