Lie To Me by SympL

A veteran industry professional who has worn many hats throughout his lengthy career, SympL is gearing up for arguably one of the biggest projects in his career so far with the release of his forthcoming full-length album, ‘It’s My World And You’re Just Listening To It.’
Making up for a teaser for what fans and listeners will be able to experience when the full project is unveiled, SympL has just shared the first single “Lie To Me” alongside The One Lavic, as well as an intriguing music video.
As he explains, the old-school hip-hop song acts as a commentary on the current state of social media, while seeing the two artists take on a number of different characters in their verses.
“’Lie to me’ is about social media culture.
I wanted to create a metaphor for this & it seemed fitting to delve into Vampire mythology.
I saw the seduction and the thirst as well as the roles – borrowed from both Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ and the film, ‘Nosferatu’ as being a perfect context to the playing out of the feeding of egos and superficial values.
Just as Dracula relies on his human familiar, Renfield, so does social media culture rely on our celebrities to conquer us,” explains SympL.
An author, emcee, promoter, booking agent, and tour manager, sympL’s career spans all the way back to the late 90s, when he was MCing alongside drum & bass DJs.
His solo discography is as extensive as his accolades, while his success as a founding member and manager of the group Projekt Lotus has led him on highly publicized tours with Wu-Tang Clan’s Cappadonna, Del the Funky Homosapien and Hieroglyphics, Mobb Deep, Chali2na, and Akil the MC of Jurassic 5, Cypress Hill, Das EFX, the Artifacts, and many more.
